Holmes County Family & Children First Council is a diverse partnership of organizations and individuals committed to improving the well-being of children and families. Through shared resources and a coordinated service delivery system, Council works with parents to empower families to reach their potential in a strong community environment.

Mission

The Holmes County FCFC is a network of organizations and individuals that promotes safe, healthy and stable children and families.

This is accomplished by communication and faclitating service coordination, setting services priorities and sharing organizational resources.

Related Programming

Partnerships for Success is a holistic and strategic approach to building Holmes' County's capacity to prevent and respond effectively to our child and adolescent problem behaviors while promoting positive youth development. Learn more here.

Project STAY Project STAY (Services To At-Risk Youth) is an Alternative School and Community Care Center that serves school age children and their families. Services available include:

  • School based individual and group counseling, intervention and prevention activities.
  • An alternative educational classroom which is housed at Project STAY and incorporated into the Holmes County school system. The goal of the program is to encourage and support students to achieve success while they are working toward their high school diploma.
  • Transportation
  • Advocacy and service coordination
  • Information about and referral to other area resources, wrapping services around youth and their families.
  • Services to parents that include: family service aides, Parent to Parent support group, wellness education, parenting education and household support.
Project STAY is a free service to families and is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Phone calls and walk-ins are accepted. For more information call: 330-674-6070.

Help Me Grow is a voluntary and free home visiting program for families who are expecting a baby or who have a child from birth to age three. It is available to all families, regardless of income and incorporates newborn visiting, ongoing home visits as determined by family needs, and services to children at-risk of or with a developmental delay or disability.

Help Me Grow offers:

  • help before baby is born
  • newborn visits
  • developmental screenings
  • information on parenting topics
  • play groups
  • toy, book and video lending library
  • assistance in getting help from other agencies
  • parent education and support
